Sahuarita Dance Center is happy to now include a Choir!
To further promote the arts in the Green Valley/Sahuarita area, Sahuarita Dance Center has now started a youth choir which is called the Sahuarita Singers. The choir will be lead by local resident, Laura Nelson who has her BA in music.Laura has been teaching music and choir in the school systems for the past 5 years. Laura has a wonderful talent in voice and has a great knack with youth.
The youth choir will begin September 2nd and will practice every Tuesday from 4:30 – 5:30 at the Santa Rita Villas Club house just north of Duval Mine road on La Canada.
The youth choir will concentrace on the fundamentals of voice technique and performance. One hour of group instruction a week will be offered. Additionally, one half-hour semi-private lesson is included per month. The semi-private lessons will be held from 5:30 to 6:00pm the same day as the group lesson. Each student will be assigned a week for their semi-private by the teacher. Performances will be held throughout the year in the local community. The choir will be performing locally, starting with Sahaurita Dance Center’s Christmas production, “Oh Holy Night” on December 13th.
We are excited for the 2008 –2009 year of dance! We have a lot of returning students and many new ones to welcome into our dance family. We have two new teachers, Marjorie Janicek, and Ramsie Mather. They both are well educated and experienced in dance and we feel lucky to have them on board.
We have a new office manager Alyssa Wall. She is not new to our family as she was a great ballet teacher for us last year. But with the arrival of her first baby ( a girl in October) she has taken on office duties. You can see her working hard at the Santa Rita Club house and Thursdays over at Triple Play. We now also have classes at Santa Rita Clubhouse on La Canada and we will be building our new studio right next to the Santa Rita clubhouse with a projected finish date around January or February.
Our future goals are to move all Triple Play and Santa Rita classes to our new building upon completion but we will keep our Rancho classes in at the Rancho Clubhouse. Upon moving into our new building we will then begin to offer a lot of different classes in the Arts. Kidz Art will have a home with us and offer classes. Sahuarita Singers will be there and we are planning many other classes and summer camps for the future!
Sahuarita Singers
We are pleased to announce the beginning of the Sahuarita Singers youth choir this month. Practices will be Tuesdays at the Santa Rita Clubhouse from 4:30—5:30. This will be a community youth choir. Having a community choir is a dream of hers and she is excited to work with the children in the Sahuarita community.
Vacations Dates
We will observe Labor Day September 1st. No classes will be held that day.
Combining classes
Rancho Sahuarita will be using the dance room for election purposes on Tuesday September 2nd and November 4th. On these days, Rancho classes will be combined with our classes over at Santa Rita Club house.
Ballet I and Ballet III will start at 3:30
Ballet II will start at 4:30
Fiesta Sahuarita Performance
Our performing teams will be performing September 27th at the Fiesta Sahaurita
Reminder
With our new payment system we wanted to remind you all that there is no need to write a check or pay for the month of September. This will automatically be deducted from the payment information you gave us when you registered. Life hopefully just got a little easier for you!
New Creative Dance Class Starts September 6th

Due to the popular demand of the Creative Dance Classes, we are opening up an additional Creative Dance class on September 6th. The class will be held at Santa Rita Villas on Saturdays at 9:15 AM. For those not currently registered at Sahuarita Dance Center, register for this class here. If your family already has an account with Sahuarita Dance Center this year, add the class by visiting the account center and adding the class.

Our Studio building is under way! We have land, we have a contractor, and
we have a loan! Our goal is to have a place where all the arts can have a
home. This will be a 4200 sq foot building located just north of Duval Mine
Road on La Canada. It will have 2 large dance rooms, a choir room, a music
room, a break room, and an office as well as a large waiting room where parents are welcome to watch their children. We hope to establish partnerships in order to also offer Martial Arts, Music, Art lessons, Choir, Musicals, exercise classes, and more. Sahuarita Dance Center will continue to offer all forms of dance: Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop, and Ballroom. The potential for any and all classes will be great!.
